Haystack Rock Wedding | Cannon Beach, Oregon
Honestly, I feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to be a wedding videographer for a wedding in Cannon Beach AT Haystack Rock! This story is CRAZY, though!
Nick and Katie were such an incredible couple. They’re actually from Michigan, and have been married for a bit now, but they wanted a destination wedding and chose Cannon Beach, Oregon!
So them, and a small group of family and friends flew all the way out to Oregon to support them and be there for them!
The wedding day was a typical Oregon Coast summer day. It was hot with some wind.
Ah, this story is seriously one of my favorites. They got married on the beach right in front of Haystack Rock, basically. That wasn’t their original choice, though. They had another venue planned and had to change at the last minute.
The night before the wedding, one of the moms went to pick a friend up at a bar in Cannon Beach (they were staying about 20 minutes away.) When they pulled up, they saw a building on fire, so they call 911 and inform them.
Come to find out, the building that was on fire was where they were supposed to be getting married in less than 12 hours!
So they all rallied together the morning of, made a bunch of calls, and finally made something happen.
Honestly, the entire day felt like a special moment. Just thinking about the fact that they flew across the entire country for a very special moment, only to have it taken from them, and then coming up with another plan so incredibly fast is just mind numbing. On top of that, to handle everything with such grace and smiles was so beautiful to see.
If I hadn’t known any of the news, and just showed up to do my job as a wedding videographer, there’s no way I would have been able to tell something like that happened.
They actually found me via a Oregon Wedding Videographer Facebook group! Being that the wedding was in Cannon Beach, and I was in Salem, it wasn’t too far of a drive.
With such a unique wedding like this, I believe the most important contribution I could make would be this: capture the beauty of everything as it happened, and deliver it in a way that shows the love and grace that everyone had considering the consequences they faced.
